The All-Star break was a nice step away from the grind of the regular season, but that’s all in the past and the Yankees kick off their unofficial second half tonight. They start a tough seven-game road trip tonight in Boston, a trip that send them to Texas early next week. With New York on the fringes of contention, these seven games will play a huge role in the outcome of their season. They need to start chipping away at their deficit now; the time for patience and waiting has come and gone. Here’s the lineup that will face left-hander Felix Doubront:
- CF Brett Gardner
- RF Ichiro Suzuki
- 2B Robinson Cano
- DH Vernon Wells
- LF Zoilo Almonte
- 1B Lyle Overbay
- 3B Brent Lillibridge
- SS Eduardo Nunez
- C Chris Stewart
And on the mound is left-hander Andy Pettitte, who really needs to straighten things out and pitch better down the stretch. He’s been pretty awful since coming off the DL a few weeks ago.
It has been crazy hot in Boston all day, like temperatures in the triple-digits hot, and it’ll cool down just a bit before game time. There’s no significant threat of rain in the forecast. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm ET and can be seen on YES locally and MLB Network nationally. Enjoy.
